Register for The Restless Mind, Nov 14, 2026–Nov 21, 2026, with Richie Davidson, Cortland Dahl, and six extraordinary guests. Opening gathering: Nov 14, 2026 at 8:30 p.m. ET. [note date change from prior correspondence]
Why do we keep worrying even when we know it isn’t helping? What if happiness is about more than just feeling good? And what helps us meet an ordinary, messy day with a little more patience?
This November, we’re bringing together leading scientists and contemplative teachers to explore these questions in The Restless Mind, a free online summit from Dharma Lab and ServiceSpace, hosted by Richie Davidson and Cortland Dahl. There will be conversations to learn from, practices to try, and opportunities to reflect together.

Meet the minds behind the week
Multiple New York Times bestselling authors. A MacArthur Fellow. A TIME100 honoree. The creator of Yale’s most popular course.
Your Hosts from Dharma Lab
A favorite from an earlier ServiceSpace Pod
As we get ready for this new week with ServiceSpace, we wanted to share a video we’ve especially enjoyed.
Recorded at the Awakin Retreat, this moving 23-minute talk by Richie was previously featured in ServiceSpace’s Born to Flourish Pod, featuring concepts from Richie and Cort’s book. It brings to life the ideas and discoveries behind the work they and their colleagues are pursuing.
What made 200 monks burst out laughing during a demonstration of brain research? Richie shares this heartwarming story before exploring our innate capacity for kindness, how easily we can begin cultivating well-being, and how its benefits ripple outward.
From babies’ preference for kindness to teachers whose five minutes of daily practice benefit their students, he shows why flourishing may be closer than we think. Touching encounters with the Dalai Lama and research on tukdam, a meditation state said to continue after death, extend the exploration to how we flourish even at the end of life.
With thanks to ServiceSpace and the Awakin Retreat for sharing this video with us.
Bringing the November summit into your own life
During The Restless Mind, we’ll turn to experiences many of us know well: the conversation we keep replaying, the worry that follows us to bed, the moment we wish we’d responded differently.
You’ll explore the science of stress and happiness, try contemplative practices, and share reflections with a global community. We hope you’ll find ideas that help you understand your own mind and small practices you’ll want to return to.
No meditation experience is needed.
Making room for the week
Nov 14, 2026: A live opening gathering at 8:30 p.m. ET (60 minutes)
Nov 15, 2026–Nov 20, 2026: Five self-paced modules with sessions, practices, and shared reflection (and a day for rest / catch up)
Nov 21, 2026: A live closing gathering at 10 a.m. ET (90 minutes)
Plan for about 5–10 hours across the week. Both live gatherings will be recorded, and materials will remain available for at least six months afterward.
We’re offering the week freely because we want anyone interested to be able to participate. We’d love to have you with us.
Register free. Complete the application to participate.
Warmly,
The Dharma Lab team
